The purpose of the Legislative Committee shall be to provide leadership
to the membership by promoting and monitoring legislation
that will affect educational retirees.

Purpose: The Educational Services Committee shall provide the units access to resource persons and information that support the goals and activities of the Association

Goals & Responsibilities: Promoting the Association goals and objectives through disseminating information to members and potential members throughout the state. Make an annual visit to local units in the committee member's geographic region as a means of providing better articulation between local units and the Association. Responsible for all activities connected with the selection and award of the Annual Outstanding Unit Member Awards. Maintaining the NMAER Speakers Bureau. Solicit names of potentials Distinguished Service Awardees and submit them to the Executive Committee with their recommendation.

Committee Profile: The Second Vice President shall serve as the chair. Should be comprised of 5-10 representatives from all geographic areas of the state. Committee members will serve three-year terms. Committee members are eligible for reappointment upon completion of their terms.

Recommended Calendar: Will meet at least once a year.

Educational Service Committee Members:

The Nominations and Elections Committee shall be responsible for securing the names of nominees for state offices, confirming a slate, publicizing the nominees and their qualifications for office, and assisting with the election process at the annual meeting.

Purpose: The Nominations and Elections Committee shall be responsible for securing the names of nominees for state offices, confirming a slate, publicizing the nominees and their qualifications for office, and assisting with the election process at the annual meeting.

Goals & Responsibilities: Shall present a slate of officers and Association representatives at the annual business meeting. Responsible for planning for an efficient election at the annual business meeting. Shall be authorized to certify substitute delegates at the time of registration at the Delegate Assembly. Will select a committee of three (3) NMAER members who are not delegates or member of the committee to count the cast ballots.

Committee Profile: The president shall appoint a chairperson. With the chairperson being appointed annually. Committee members will serve three (3) year terms. Committee members are eligible for reappointment upon completion of their terms.

Nominations and Elections Committee Members:

Purpose: The Pre- Retirement Planning Committee shall provide opportunities for retirement planning to active educational employees in order to facilitate the retirement process.

Goals & Responsibilities: the committee's services may be offered to other interested groups deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee. A close relationship should be maintained with the Membership Committee as well as with the various state education associations. The committee will serve as a liaison between NMAER and all New Mexico educational employees from public schools and institutions of higher learning, private schools and colleges, and Bureau of Indian Affairs and other state and federal educational programs.

Committee Profile: Chairperson will be appointed by the President. Committee should be comprised of 5-10 representatives from all geographic areas of the state. Committee members will serve a three (3) year term. Committee members are eligible for reappointment upon completion of their terms,

Membership / Pre-Retirement Planning Committee Members:

The Amendments Committee shall be to receive and evaluate all proposed amendments to the By-Laws and Constitution. The Amendments Committee shall present all amendments proposed either by mail or at the preceding annual meeting in the NEWSLETTER prior to the next annual meeting along with a recommendation for each to "pass" or "no pass" and the reason(s) for said recommendation.
