Hi, NMAER RETIREES,
My name is Antonio Valdes. I am the volunteer coordinator with Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge in South Valley.
We currently have a volunteer at our Welcome Center, who has an intellectual disability. He is really dedicated and enthusiastic but he isn't always comfortable working independently. We love having him be part of our team but don't have the capacity to have a staff member spend the majority of their day with him.
We would love one or two retirees from NMAER would volunteer alongside our volunteer to help him complete his daily tasks. This would involve helping him be more effective interacting with visitors, aiding him in time management, and help him be more thorough. This would help us, help him develop work skills, and potentially be a very rewarding experience for an NMAER volunteer.
The tasks this volunteer does include welcoming visitors, observing wildlife, cleaning, weeding, learning bird species, and watching a daily nature documentary, all while being generally available to greet visitors.
This volunteer works here 16 hours a week. 12:30 - 4:30 on Monday, 8:00 -
4:00 on Wednesday, and 8:00 - 12:00 on Friday. Since this is quite a few hours we could take volunteers for either a four or eight hour shift. Even if they're only available one shift out of the week that would still help us out a lot.
If you know of someone who is interested in helping us out please contact me at (505) 401-0789 or email@example.com.

Collet Park Elementary 4-H Club is looking for volunteers one Friday a month from 12:30 to 2:00 beginning in August of 2018. You will not be left alone with children. Their teachers will be there to manage students. We only ask for you to share your expertise.
Do you play the piano or a guitar? Do you like to sew or cook? Pottery is a big hit, or maybe programming and robotics is your thing. Are you an artist that can facilitate drawing and painting? Maybe you are a wood worker or a gardener.
We believe that accomplishment builds persistence. Persistence is required for achieving. We are teaching our children to accomplish new things through their interests so they can persist in things, in which they have less interest.
If you can donate and hour and a half a month this coming school year, please contact:
